Beside some project in which I have a participation for a part or another, I don't do recreation on a regular basis.
But I understand that others are interested only in that as a HOBBY.
So for that reason alone, If you mean that if farsight or any other company which have the license for the real tables, could use my existing concept on their engine, and that in exchange, the "FP recreators" could keep having the permission to continue their work...I wouldn't object.

...without supporting 2-screen-arcade-view for cabinets there'll be no reason to buy it.
FP forever!

but to use a game console has also some advantages... never more any problems with hardware components, graphic settings or performance, because it is uniform, well tested and optimized to the console. and a console is small and handy.
yeah, the lack of support of multiple monitors and other not available additional input/output devices will exhaust the benefit of a console again... maybe.

In my opinion this game is great news for pinball enthusiasts. The coolest feature to me is the ability to have these games in a portable format (ipad2). That is huge for me. Also, there will be online leaderboards and tournaments. They say portrait mode will be supported for all formats but have not commented yet on dual screen.
I am going to get Pinball Arcade but it in NO way dampens my enthusiasm for FP. They will hold different needs for me. Plus, even if they cover the top 40 tables, there will be ones they can't get too and plus the ability to mod, e.g. Slamtilts Gorgar, and originals (Steve and others) is what makes FP soo cool.

New vid up of TOTAN......... http://youtu.be/qMhf9i0afpsIm still concered over the lack of lighting being used on the tables ive seen so far, nothing 'flashes' or has refelective lighting it just seems very bland on the whole lighting front really. Just look at this gameplay of a real TOTAN (in 1080p) and you'll see the wonderful lighting, surely they can recreate this??.......... http://youtu.be/OWwYNpowchE

yes, if i look to the details... there are 'Sphere Mapping' missing on the wires and how is it called "blur" or "flare" around the lights are missing too...
they also didn't use pre-shaded textures with rendered lights and shadows, that would increase the optic immense and does not decrease any performance.
i thought they are professional game developer/programmer with many years experience... or their videos are made with an early beta version of the game engine.
i expect more of a new up to date game engine that is made from scratch... ok, the have normalmaps and multiplatform support... but is that all?

The physic engine seems to be really good. I'm a bit like beta-tester, I feel the rendering is not top notch for nowadays standard. The table is too bright and the lightning are not good at all. Also, the sound are not really good: I mean, there's no "ball roll" sound (or not enough!), and all the "metallic (ball to metal) sounds are missing (like in cantact of the ball wire (or even plastic) ramps or the entrance of ramp) and the flipper sound is not good to (not enough "mecanical"?). But the general impression is really good afterall and I'm quite sure this is only a "beta" of the engine. Is there a known release date? I hope there's some more month of work on the engine itself to finalize all the mandatory missing details

maybe we should ask them if a public license could be bought for those who like to make original?

If they read this thread... now they know what they have to do. *har-har* - 2 monitor support (arcade view) - better sounds - much better lightning - better textures - ... - ... - ... *lol* FP forever! Do I really need a multi-platform game that works on a tiny Nintendo 3DS??? Hell... My 24" cab-playfield-monitor is much too small for real pinball feeling!!!! The product sounds interesting in many parts (table-licenses, physics, ...) but there are many things that I miss.
